A STEP file contains fully defined 3D geometry, including:

• Solid bodies (not just surfaces)
• Exact dimensions and tolerances
• Assembly structure (multiple parts)
• Metadata (materials, names, etc.)

Unlike mesh files (like STL), STEP files describe geometry mathematically, not as triangles.
